So why is more melanin produced in spots areas? The most important reason for this is the sun, namely ultraviolet (UV) rays. Because the task of melanin is to give the skin its color, as well as to protect the subcutaneous tissues from UV rays. For this reason, as a result of intense UV exposure or accumulation over the years, spotting may occur in genetically predisposed individuals. On the other hand, pregnancy, drugs, some diseases and cosmetics can cause spotting by increasing light sensitivity.

Types of dark spots;

Melasma (chloasma, pregnancy mask): Use of birth control pills (OCS) or hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause overproduction of melanin. As a result, spots of different sizes may occur in areas such as forehead, upper nose, cheek, upper lip and chin.

After the skin examination, it is decided which spot treatment will be done. Each kit (box) is for one-person application. After the skin is thoroughly cleaned with the purifying solution included in the kit, the cream-based Cosmelan 1 or Dermamelan mask is applied to the face. It is left on the skin for 8-12 hours depending on the person's phototype. At the end of this period, the skin is cleaned by washing the skin with a soap with a suitable pH without rubbing it. Peeling, which starts from the 2nd day, lasts about 7-14 days and intense moisturizing and sunscreens are used until the peeling ends. After the peelings are over, the treatment is continued for 4-6 months with Cosmelan 2 or Dermamelan follow-up cream.
